1) Google Adds Hundreds of Jobs in Chicago West Loop Real Estate

Hundreds of jobs will be added to the tech giant’s Chicago office, located in the West Loop. Real estate will be in high demand with these new jobs moving in as they are going to both locals and Chicago implants who need immediate housing. Currently, there are over 1,000 people at the Chicago West Loop real estate office. In fact, the employees are going to be spilling over into a new, independent Google West Loop real estate office. The original Fulton Market office opened in 2015 with a mix of top sales and management jobs.


2) West Loop’s First Chicago Public Library Donated By Sterling Bay

The new Chicago public library is located in a prime West Loop real estate location with Chicago roots. The space occupies an old Harpo Productions building (yes, Oprah spelled backwards). The library was made possible in part by a donation from local Chicago architecture firm Sterling Bay. There was no neighborhood library before the space was created. It is 2 stories and 16,500 square feet with an emphasis on highlighting Chicago architectural design. Sterling Bay influenced the design using the true character of the surrounding West Loop real estate and architecture. The new West Loop library offers many services including 3D printing, classes, book and video rentals, and much more.

The popular Miami food hall is taking over West Loop real estate in restaurant row. Entitled Politan Row, the building will open its doors in May at 111 N. Aberdeen Street, inside of the McDonald’s headquarters. It will feature craft cocktails, a German beer garden, Floriole sweet and savory baked goods, Bumbu Roux Indonesian food, and LaShuk Street Food, an Indonesian experience with even more restaurants to join. A foodie hub that is sure to be a restaurant real estate casual lunch staple.

Black Dog Gelato Opens In The West Loop

Black Dog Gelato is a favorite among Chicagoans. After struggling with past locations, the ice cream shop’s new location will be in West Loop prime real estate at 1012 W. Lake Street where the former Harvest Juicery was located. The brand is best known for their unusual flavors such as Rosemary Irish Cream or Goat Cheese Cashew Caramel. With flavors this good occupying West Loop real estate, hopefully Black Dog has found its permanent home in the West Loop.

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams Is Finally Opening A West Loop Location

Lines out the door is a common occurrence - even in the Chicago winters. Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, or simply Jeni’s as the locals call it, is opening a prime West Loop real estate location at 165 N. Sangamon Street, next to Bonci pizza and in the future Kinton Ramen. With no opening date currently set, the shop will be on 2 levels and is the 6th location. Although Jeni originally wanted a Randolph Restaurant Row spot, she eventually nestled into the larger Sangamon space. Try Wildberry Lavender or many other unique flavors you can only get at Jeni’s.


4) $1B Restoration Of The Old Cook County Hospital, ‘A City Unto itself’

A new hotel, offices, and a museum will be restored in the 100+ year old Cook County Hospital. Located in the Illinois medical district real estate area, the old hospital will get a major face lift as crews have started a serious restoration overhaul. The Illinois Medical District and the Near West Side will have a beautiful building with restored front at 1835 W. Harrison St. which started Fall 2018. It will take about $1 billion to restore and build inside and out. Interesting fact: the first medical internship and first blood bank in the U.S. was started here. Many of the elements in the building will be repurposed or restored in individual hotel rooms, making each room unique.
